If you want people to actually show up to your place of business.

Give them the address.

That is all.

I'm liking the race for Mayor in Toronto [02 Mar 2010|10:23pm]
Because of this little tidbit in the Toronto Star

"CUPE 416 president Mark Ferguson said that, if elected, Smitherman should put as much energy into finding money-saving contracting-in opportunities — including curbside pick-up in Etobicoke, where the city now pays $8.5 million a year to contractor Turtle Island.

He rejected Smitherman’s suggestion that the union should compete with private firms to win city work.

“Unions don’t bid. We’re not corporations. We’re not in the business of delivering services — we are city employees, and certainly a bid process is something that is not workable.”

That last part is the perfect quote from someone who continually puts their foot in their mouth, eventually you figure he had to gnaw his way through it and a bit of truth would slip out.

I especially like the 'not in the business of delivering service' which perfectly sums up everything that the TTC has been about for the last say... oh... forever.

Stolen from themonkeymafia [28 Feb 2010|11:59am]
Our Father, who art in GM Place, hockey be thy name. Thy will be done, GOLD will be WON on ICE as well as IN THE STANDS. Give us this day our hockey sticks and forgive us our penalties, as we forgive those who cross check against us. Lead us not into elimination but deliver us to victory, for this is OUR game, and GOLD...

Gordon Lightfoot: [18 Feb 2010|07:05pm]
Still alive.

That is all.

We're really using Twitter as our source of news?

Idiocracy and the prophesy therein is closer than I expected, there is little time left.

All hail Mike Judge and his prophetic teachings!

Now this is interesting... [24 Jan 2010|11:13pm]
Most people on the internet know the concept that if someone does something stupid... it could be considered under the header of 'fail'

But what if someone is about to do something stupid... is that pre-fail?

For those who don't know what's going on in Toronto, Adam Giambrone is the current chair of the TTC, which has fallen under a massive uproar lately of having ticket booth collectors fall asleep in their booths.

And subsequently got caught on film.

Then, the 'sleeping beauty' decided to pipe up in the media and make matters worse: http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/ttc/article/755052--wake-up-to-real-issues-ttc-sleeper-tells-public?bn=1 by insinuating that people shouldn't be worried about a public servant sleeping on the job... we should all be worried about Haiti.

The TTC worker is an example of Fail.

Giambrone wanting to take his lack of leadership on the TTC and transform it into a race for mayor, is Pre-fail.

OK folks, it's time for another topical rant... [14 Dec 2009|11:26pm]
This one is on selling things in your online business.

I know a few folks who sell stuff online, some folks are really good at it and produce top notch quality product, others, not-so-much.

Here's a few observations, agree or disagree at your leisure:

For starters, if you are going to join communities to sell your product, a really good idea would be to not {I repeat NOT} use said community as your own personal journal. If you're there to sell a product then sell the FUCKING product, don't mention a happy holiday {unless it's a holiday sale in which case that's different} don't prattle on about what's going on in your personal life, and for Christ's sake, don't mention that you either a} have children, or b} are saving up for their college funds.

That's just fucking dirty.

If I wanted your little spawn to go to school, I'd be sending money directly to their college fund, seeing as how I honestly couldn't care less, don't pimp your kids out online to perfect strangers for sympathy purchases. It's not only smarmy, it's mildly idiotic.

I really didn't like it when that moron who was on "On the Lot" did it for sympathy votes, and guess what? I really don't like it now.

Secondly: If you have a product, and a company, you really shouldn't be 'pimping' out your company, selling yes, but pimping... not-so-much. What I mean by this is simple, treat your business like a child. You would honestly get annoyed if that cousin of yours who has a kid shows pictures of their children to anyone and everyone around them and even to perfect strangers... so why then, do you think it's acceptable for you to hock your pictures of your products to anyone and everyone you meet?

It's not. Quite frankly because after awhile, people just start to tune that shit out.

Eventually, it just becomes spam that people ignore and move on from.

There's this method of advertising that Minx Clothing used to use, it's called word-of-mouth you should probably look it up.*

Thirdly: This one is for the new people who weren't paying attention to the first two rules, if your company has a bad reputation, don't change the name of the company. Because that's stupid. The underlying problems as to why your company got the bad reputation is still there. Either change the way you do business {IE: stop making yourself look like an idiot to the consumers} or shut down your business. Guess what? The problem isn't with the name of your company. That problem lies... elsewhere.

*It's a concept in which you put out a good product, and people who have bought your product tell other people, and so-on and so-on. Which is the absolute BEST type of advertising. It was done well, and it was a really good product.

Seeing as how I always love to see Nerds fight it out on the internet... [21 Nov 2009|02:09pm]
I came across a review of New Moon by the Vatican thanks to Kevin Smith:

"Even the Vatican has an opinion. Monsignor Franco Perazzolo, the Vatican's culture council leader released a statement saying of 'New Moon': "This theme of vampires in Twilight combines a mixture of excesses that, as ever is aimed at young people and gives a heavy esoteric element." He adds, "This film is nothing more than a moral vacuum with a deviant message and as such should be of concern."

Now, this should have the internal conflict level rise on many people... if you hate Twilight, but you also dislike religion, doesn't that mean that Twilight is good because you don't like religion?

Yes, the paradox is rising in many of you as I type this.

Even the Vatican doesn't like Sparkly vampires apparently, but that would mean that the Vatican is saying something that you agree with, and that can't possibly be right... can it?

Having said that, cleaners have been dispatched to your location to clean up the area where your computer is because your heads might explode.

Oh for the love of god...

If anything there's more hair pulling nonsense over this than RDJ in Tropic Thunder* and he was nominated for an Academy Award for doing what he did.

Then again, there's an African American guy in the picture with white face on...

I have some spare quarters, but I doubt they would be enough to buy everyone involved a sense of humor.

What a load of crap... [10 Nov 2009|11:41pm]
So... prisoners detained in Afghanistan aren't covered under the Geneva Convention?

Far be it from me to claim that no-Conservative {that supports the Progressive Conservative Party anyway} has EVER actually READ the Geneva Convention... but they should probably start before more foaming at the mouth ensues:

Especially Common Article 3.

I'm all for the military as I know the training that they are put through first hand, and to be honest, if even the Conservative Government is this ass-backwards with regards to dealing with our boys, we're toast.

They're the ones that are supposed to be pro-military.

I really wish there was a fiscally Conservative party that we could vote for, one that wants to balance budgets without all that religious mamba-jahambo nonsense that is associated with the other one. {Church and State should be separate}

I'm guessing... [05 Nov 2009|04:10pm]
If it's not in a movie that's less than 6 months old, {or you're not told about it by some retarded internet meme} it doesn't exist.

Happy Guy Fawkes Day.

It's a real day, not like international talk like a scurvy ridden retard day, or vegan day, this one exists.*

*because more than just the internet tells me this... so it is done.

That'll learn her a very important life lesson.
