I came across a review of New Moon by the Vatican thanks to Kevin Smith:
http://www.examiner.com/x-704-Pop-Media-Examiner~y2009m11d20-The-Twilight-Saga-New-Moon-reviews-are-in-from-the-Vatican-to-the-critics--opinions-aplenty
"Even the Vatican has an opinion. Monsignor Franco Perazzolo, the Vatican's culture council leader released a statement saying of 'New Moon': "This theme of vampires in Twilight combines a mixture of excesses that, as ever is aimed at young people and gives a heavy esoteric element." He adds, "This film is nothing more than a moral vacuum with a deviant message and as such should be of concern."
Now, this should have the internal conflict level rise on many people... if you hate Twilight, but you also dislike religion, doesn't that mean that Twilight is good because you don't like religion?
Yes, the paradox is rising in many of you as I type this.
Even the Vatican doesn't like Sparkly vampires apparently, but that would mean that the Vatican is saying something that you agree with, and that can't possibly be right... can it?
Having said that, cleaners have been dispatched to your location to clean up the area where your computer is because your heads might explode.

Wait?
What?
Oh for the love of god...
http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/article/724659--how-a-halloween-getup-went-badly-wrong?bn=1
It's a FUCKING HALLOWE'EN COSTUME MORONS!
If anything there's more hair pulling nonsense over this than RDJ in Tropic Thunder* and he was nominated for an Academy Award for doing what he did.
Then again, there's an African American guy in the picture with white face on...
*sigh*
I have some spare quarters, but I doubt they would be enough to buy everyone involved a sense of humor.
Logan
*yes, I did {in fact} think "What do YOU mean YOU people!?" when I first saw this story.

[10 Nov 2009|11:41pm] |
So... prisoners detained in Afghanistan aren't covered under the Geneva Convention?
http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/article/723809--dnd-appears-to-back-off-plan-to-vaccinate-afghan-detainees?bn=1
Far be it from me to claim that no-Conservative {that supports the Progressive Conservative Party anyway} has EVER actually READ the Geneva Convention... but they should probably start before more foaming at the mouth ensues:
http://www.icrc.org/web/Eng/siteeng0.nsf/html/genevaconventions
Especially Common Article 3.
I'm all for the military as I know the training that they are put through first hand, and to be honest, if even the Conservative Government is this ass-backwards with regards to dealing with our boys, we're toast.
They're the ones that are supposed to be pro-military.
I really wish there was a fiscally Conservative party that we could vote for, one that wants to balance budgets without all that religious mamba-jahambo nonsense that is associated with the other one. {Church and State should be separate}

[05 Nov 2009|04:10pm] |
If it's not in a movie that's less than 6 months old, {or you're not told about it by some retarded internet meme} it doesn't exist.
Happy Guy Fawkes Day.
It's a real day, not like international talk like a scurvy ridden retard day, or vegan day, this one exists.*

*because more than just the internet tells me this... so it is done.

| Feel like committing murder in Canada? |
[22 Sep 2009|10:13pm] |
Become a Mountie, after all, they can get away with it.
Now, I know what some of you might say, that the Mounties are a proud heritage and a shining symbol of justice in this great land of ours.
All loyalty aside, what these fuckers did, was wrong.
http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/article/699213
They've been caught multiple times trying to cover up the truth, and now we discover that there have been e-mails deleted about the death.
Seriously?
How much MORE guilty do these dumb shits have to be? I mean I respect the Mounties, but these stupid bastards are making the entire Mounted Police services look really REALLY horrible not only here but abroad as well... I think it would suck if the recommendation would end up being like the Airbourne incident years back.

| Wow! |
[10 Sep 2009|07:33pm] |
I'm amazingly impressed.
There's this Steampunk thing, and in it some folks like to talk about the Victorian aesthetic, other folks try to talk with fake cockney accents and annoy the shit out of the rest of the people by being dicks.*
The problem is amazingly summed up by my new best friend anti_censorship in this post ----> http://community.livejournal.com/steamfashion/2051595.html?page=2#comments which is a response to this post: http://community.livejournal.com/steamfashion/2048020.html
That, friends, is verbal smackdown.

*funny thing is, with steampunks I've noticed many of them bitching that when some of the Goths came over to steampunk from goth, that the Goth's were snooty and aloof, which is kinda ironic when you think about it.

| Yay possible upcoming elections... |
[08 Sep 2009|05:33pm] |
Except not.
Sorry, I'm feeling kinda ranty today.
Here's the thing. My vote is still up in the air and will remain so for quite some time.
I've mentioned this on someone else's LJ and I think it bears repeating here.
I'm a pretty big Liberal supporter, however, they just have too much baggage. There's the sponsorship scandal, there's the fact that Iggy has apparently lost his huge eyebrowed mind and wants to repatriate Omar Khadr. Look, I'm all for getting Canadian citizens back into the country, if, they're stuck in a foreign country due to stupidity that is not their fault. {like the recent problem with the passport}
On the other hand, if they lob grenades at our allies in acts of terror... Let the little bastard rot, I care not how old he was at the time, he's lucky we don't export him to Texas for trial.
As for the Cons, they're WAY too secretive. If I ask a politician a straight question I expect a straight answer. Not a "Well the Liberals had 13 years before us to do it" answer, because well, the Liberals haven't been in control of the country for the last 3 years. At some point, you have to start taking responsibility for what's going on in the country RIGHT NOW.
Plus, they've photocopied the Republican playbook from down in the 'States and are running it play-by-play. Blame everyone else, use God as a crutch to get the old person vote, and go after all the oil that you can horde. And oh yeah, FUCK the environment.
The NDP?
HA. Don't get me started on that Pro-Union Communist horseshit collective. For all the people who have a problem with the current Conservative government that voted NDP, you only have yourselves to blame. I'm not kidding. You helped split the vote that could have nudged the Cons out of power.
Plus, as much as I think the Con leader is a shifty-eyed psycho, I only trust Jack Layton about as far as I can comfortably spit a live rat. I honestly can't see why anyone would trust him considering he sold out the country just to get his wife a job. Hell, I want to get a government grant to run an experiment to see if Layton would sell his grandmother to get a seat in the house of commons {I have more than a fair shot at success}.
So what does that leave? Green? The "no shit, we should all be doing our part for the environment by now anyway" party, Communist? {see Jack Layton} or... what again?
I just wish that there were a slightly center-ish party that just went in, did it's job with regards to balancing the budget, and then went home. Fiscal responsibility is what I want, and preferably if this new and un-announced party could have a complete and utter hatred for unions that would just be gravy on the top.

There were a comment section on the "Jury request" form that I just filled out.
Beside "Can you read/write English" I would have put "If I can't, how was I able to answer the question?"

| Stolen from someone else because it was just damned funny... |
[11 Aug 2009|05:17pm] |
To all my American friends:
This morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the U.S. Department of Energy.
I then took a shower in the clean water provided by a municipal water utility.
After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC-regulated channels to see what the National Weather Service of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration determined the weather was going to be like, using satellites designed, built, and launched by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
I watched this while eating my breakfast of U.S. Department of Agriculture-inspected food and taking the drugs which have been determined as safe by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
At the appropriate time, as regulated by the U.S. Congress and kept accurate by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the U.S. Naval Observatory, I get into my National Highway Traffic Safety Administration-approved automobile and set out to work on the roads build by the local, state, and federal Departments of Transportation, possibly stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level determined by the Environmental Protection Agency, using legal tender issued by the Federal Reserve Bank.
On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to be sent out via the U.S. Postal Service and drop the kids off at the public school.
After spending another day not being maimed or killed at work thanks to the workplace regulations imposed by the Department of Labor and the Occupational Safety and Health administration, enjoying another two meals which again do not kill me because of the USDA, I drive my NHTSA car back home on the DOT roads, to my house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and Fire Marshal's inspection, and which has not been plundered of all its valuables thanks to the local police department.
And then I log on to the internet -- which was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration -- and post on Freerepublic.com and Fox News forums about how SOCIALISM in medicine is BAD because the government can't do anything right.
heh heh.

| Stupid Wisdome Teeth. |
[11 Aug 2009|11:49am] |
And yes, Wisdome has an "E" at the end, fuck off Grammar Police.
Feels like I was laying in the Dentist chair for 2 hours and had GSP dance a jig on the left side of my face.
With cleats on.
Seeing as how my Wisdom teeth were fucked up, IE the roots grew not straight, but curved, the dentist had to go at it with a scalpel, an air powered drill type thing, and what looked like a commonly used set of pliers in order to get the last chunk out.
Now I'm off to play with the Blu-Ray burner.
tee hee hee...
